About your opportunity
The Psychologist – Senior (Prison Mental Health Services) provides high level clinical services and leadership within the multidisciplinary Prison Mental Health Service (PMHS) team. The role is responsible for forensic mental health care through timely and responsive service provision required to meet the objectives of the PMHS.

The position requires utilisation of a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of forensic mental health (or the ability to quickly attain forensic skills and knowledge), to deliver high level clinical and forensic psychology services to adult clients of the PMHS, provide professional leadership, supervision and clinical input, contribute to the training of staff, the development and review of training, research, policy and clinical practice guidelines relevant to the provision of psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions.

This position works within the Prison Mental Health Service and across the integrated forensic mental health service. The position is required to work in both Townsville Men's and Townsville Women's Correctional Centres serviced by the Townsville PMHS team.

Role requirements:

  • Possess a four-year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an APAC-accredited tertiary institution + current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Possession of a Masters' or Doctoral degree from an accredited tertiary institution is highly desired. Endorsement or eligibility for endorsement as a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist would be highly regarded.
  • 'C' class motor vehicle licence.

Generous remuneration package value up to $11,203 p.m. comprising salary range of $4197.30 to $4516.60 p.f. (HP4), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation.
