JOB DESCRIPTION

The Peel-Harvey Catchment Council Inc. (PHCC) is an incorporated, non-statutory, community based Natural Resource Management (NRM) group that leads the integration and co-ordination of NRM in the Peel-Harvey Catchment. The membership of the Council comprises members of the community, state government agencies and local government with an interest in and understanding of, the sustainable use and management of our natural resources.

PHCC are looking for a person passionate about natural resource/environmental management, with the following skills and attributes:

  1. high level of skills and experience in building, networking and engaging closely with community groups and stakeholders (especially farmers) with a particular focus on Sustainable/Regenerative Agriculture and natural resource management
  2. able to develop, deliver and promote sustainable agriculture practices, projects and related information
  3. plan, prepare and implement stakeholder engagement and work plans
  4. plan, co-ordinate and/or deliver relevant workshops, field days, events, training and engagement activities based on needs assessment and project plans
  5. attend, participate and report back on state and national gatherings of Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitators
  6. establishing, maintaining and supporting adaptable, self-reliant, and informed networks of community landcare and farmer groups in the region to access funding, partnerships, training and information to facilitate the adoption of land management practices
  7. report on project outcomes and deliverables as required under funding guidelines
  8. raise public awareness of the project/s and relevant information through regular media/social items
  9. Project Management skills and experienced in the preparation and management of project budgets
  10. occupational health and safety knowledge and experience

General requirements

  • Australian Residency or eligibility to legally work in Australia
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s License or higher
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software or similar

Essential qualifications/skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, natural resource/environmental management or social science, and/or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated high level of literacy and report writing skills
  • High level capacity for self-motivation, developed time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, project & contract management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in site environmental assessment, agricultural systems assessment, or similar, with ability to give sound and credible technical support and advice on farm management and practices
  • Understanding of agricultural production systems and practices utilised in south-west Australia
  • Experience in working with the community and/or landholders

Desirable

  • Experience in compiling funding/grant applications and acquittals
  • Established network of industry colleagues
