Job title: Senior Computer Network and Systems Engineer

Reporting to: Managing Director

Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am-5.00pm (or as agreed)

Location: Ascot, Western Australia

Established in 2000, Corescan is a services company specialising in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of hyperspectral data. The company provides centralised bureau services as well as onsite laboratory services for real time, automated geological logging. Our services include hyperspectral mineralogy, core photography and 3D laser profiling which is processed and analysed by our team of specialist geoscientists using proprietary software to produce geological models that impact exploration, mining, mineral processing and environmental management. 

Duties of Role:

  • Work with the executive team to develop the IT strategy, vision and roadmap
  • Assess, recommend and integrate new IT technology trends and solutions
  • Ensure IT technologies used are effective, leading edge and recommend changes
  • Ensure the company’s IT assets are effective, secure and commercially viable
  • Manage IT budgets, time frames and team KPIs
  • Ensure all IT practices adhere to regulatory standards
  • Managing IT staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance.
  • Server and network design / architecture
  • Cyber-attack risk management and response
  • Network equipment commissioning
  • Backup, redundancy and disaster recovery
  • Network infrastructure support (routers, switches etc)
  • Operating system support (Windows and Linux)
  • Redundancy and downtime minimisation
  • 3rd party maintenance services and contracts
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and capacity (Zabbix)
  • Respond to system failures and outages
  • Company telephony services
  • AWS Cloud services including:
  • AWS server design and commissioning
  • AWS account management
  • AWS server support
  • Support server and network equipment procurement
  • Support server commissioning
  • Support software licensing registers and renewals


Academic or trade qualifications

  • IT Diploma or higher
  • Cisco - CCNP 
  • Linux - LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 
  • SOA-C01: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate


Work experience and skills

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in IT
  • Advanced knowledge in Cisco, AWS, Linux and Windows
  • Advanced knowledge in networking 

Proven hands-on experience implementing, administering and troubleshooting network infrastructure, including: routers, switches, firewalls, wireless
