About the position:

Wollongong Library is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic person to work collaboratively within its Home Library Service (HLS) team. You will have a high customer service focus to meet the needs of the City’s diverse community, a good understanding of the role of public libraries, and the ability to contribute to the continuous improvement and development of library services.

A typical week will include selecting and preparing items for delivery to HLS customers to meet weekly deadlines, supervising volunteers, responding to enquiries from Home Library customers, aged care facilities and volunteers, communicating and liaising with HLS customers, creating profiles for new HLS customers and scheduling their deliveries, communicating and liaising with community organisations and library staff and participating in rostered desk shifts. When making deliveries, you may need to liaise with external customers in aged care facilities. Due to the current restrictions for visitors in aged care facilities, you may require or need to be willing to have the influenza vaccine.

This is a temporary position for a period of up to 12 months. You will work full time, 35 hours per week which may include day and evening shifts. Please note that this position may involve undertaking manual tasks and applicants should be suitably fit to undertake the duties as you will be required to lift boxes of books.

You will work with the Home Library Team, which consists to two full time staff (including this position), and Home Library volunteers. The Home Library team, along with the CALD & Indigenous Team comprise the Outreach Services Team.

The Home Library Team are caring, hardworking, organised, and efficient people who support each other in the delivery of excellent service to our community.

Please note that under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a Working with Children Check. If successful for an interview, you will be required to present your Working with Children Check application/clearance reference number.
