About the Position:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Land Use Planning team.

In this position, you are responsible for the delivery of strategic planning outcomes articulated in Council’s Corporate and Business Plans. You will be leading and coordinating a team of professional staff to work with the community towards achieving cohesive strategies that will direct the future planning framework for the City. Adopting a project management approach, this position will integrate strategic planning outcomes with the Land Use Planning team and other teams of Council.

Essential Selection Criteria:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Town Planning, Urban Design, Architecture or associated field.
  • Extensive experience in a strategic planning discipline.
  • Experience in leading, motivating and directing a team of professionals.
  • Experience in applying urban design principles to achieve strategic planning solutions.
  • Experience in managing consultants to deliver on agreed outcomes.
  • High level written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills, as well as proven ability to prepare reports on development matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
  • Possession of a current Class C drivers’ licence or equivalent.
