ENT Surgeon Wagga Wagga Base Hospital

Supported by state-of-the-art technology, the brand new $280 million WWBH is one of the busiest referral hospitals in NSW with 250 beds. To date more than $14 million of new medical equipment has been installed.

Our Department of Surgery currently has 17 surgeons, covering General, Vascular, Urology, ENT, and Paediatric Surgery. We service a catchment area of approximately 250, 000 and provide surgical services to a number of smaller sites including Young, Cootamundra, Temora, Tumut, Narrandera, Leeton, and Griffith. We also have two clinical schools – UNSW and Notre Dame.

We are inviting applications for a new ENT Surgeon to work as either a part-time Staff Specialist or a Fee-For-Service Visiting Medical Officer.

We require our new ENT Surgeon to be an experienced leader with a passion for providing effective surgical services in a rural environment. The position will involve elective and emergency theatre lists and acute on-call work. Working as part of our multidisciplinary Surgical Services team, you will be responsible for the clinical management of admitted and referred surgical patients. As a key figure you will promote patient quality and safety whilst providing leadership, training, supervision, and education.

There is also potential to work privately with Calvary Riverina Hospital based in Wagga Wagga. With 165 beds and 8 operating theatres Calvary Riverina Hospital is one of regional NSW’s largest private hospitals. There is also the opportunity to participate at two Clinical Schools in Wagga Wagga and to work in private practice.

  1. Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Otolaryngology (ENT), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Otolaryngology (ENT) practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
