STATUS: Part Time, Ongoing

HOURS: 16.0 hours per fortnight

A new permanent position has arisen to join our Planned Activity Group (PAG) team in a Food Assistant role. This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated PAG team and deliver this valued service to our PAG participants. 

This role will assist the PAG Cook with food service and production of daily meals for participants at our Bairnsdale location as well as outreach centres. This role is currently rostered for 2 x 4 hour morning shifts per week. Applicants must have good cooking skills and be committed to working as part of a collaborative and cohesive team to meet the needs of our participants and our service objectives.

The BRHS PAG program provides centre based and community activities for the frail, elderly and younger people with a disability with a focus on meeting individual needs and goals through care planning and the provision of opportunities for socialisation and community inclusion. 

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 12 months food preparation, cooking and service experience in a commercial environment
  • Food Safety Program – Food Safety/Handling Certificate
  • The proven ability to plan and prepare menu items in volume that meet the needs of the consumer, including nutritional requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Food Safety principles and requirements in a commercial environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work in a collaborative and cooperative manner requiring limited supervision
  • Physical capacity to undertake routine lifting
