The Role

The Role

  • Underwrite a wide range of risks in the Professional Indemnity space. Ranging from Accountants to Natural Therapies to Real Estate Professionals
  • Use your marketing & sales skills to develop long term sustainable relationships with Cover holders and build your profile and career

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite Professional Indemnity
  • Develop and build broker relationship
  • Ensure excellent services standards including quality of underwriting and timely response which meet or exceed company standards
  • Assist with the marketing of BIA's facilities/binding authorities
  • Handling referrals on allocated facilities
  • Manage allocated facilities including:
    • Tracking and following up on monthly bordereaux and payments from coverholders
    • Ensure that monthly underwriting bordereaux are loaded onto the underwriting system
    • Monitoring and reporting the performance of allocated facilities
    • Auditing of facilities
    • Communicating with management any failure to maintain compliance requirements
    • Providing facility holders with documentation as necessary. Such as reviewing and amending underwriting guidelines and wordings
  • Converting new opportunities generated:
    • Drafting business cases including gathering information
    • Drafting underwriting guidelines including researching market rates
    • Amending or reviewing existing policy wordings and endorsements including researching market policy coverages

The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate
  • 5+ years of Insurance industry experience in underwriting and / or broking
  • Excellent knowledge of Financial Lines insurance and/or Public & Products Liability insurance
  • Basic knowledge of Property Insurance, Commercial and Personal Accident
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing and general broker/coverholder development

Skills / Attributes
  • Strong team player who can work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills - Able to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, executive leadership, coverholders, brokers and others
  • Must have a high level of negotiation skill
  • Demonstrable ability to market to and develop relationships with brokers
  • Ability to draft (in the first instance) business cases, underwriting guidelines, wordings and endorsements
  • Must have a high level of numeracy
  • Must be able to effectively prioritise
  • Proficient in Excel (Intermediate), Outlook, Word and standard business computer programs
  • Risk aware but not adverse
