The Sub Acute Care Unit is responsible for providing restorative and rehabilitation services to older and younger people in the sub-acute stage of their illness or injury recovery phase; to promote independence in activities of daily living that helps regain functional capacity and reduce functional decline. SACU is a stand-alone unit located on the eastern campus (off site) of the Townsville Hospital and the total number of beds in SACU is forty-five (45), consisting of two independent living units and a mix of sub acute rehabilitation and geriatric cohort of patients.

As a highly functioning multidisciplinary team member, deliver high level Clinical Neuropsychology services and leadership in the area of sub-acute including rehabilitation and geriatric management to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health in accordance with organisational goals.

Salary range of $2588.80 to $3805.00 p.f. (HP3), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation. Other employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options, shift and locality allowances, corporate discounts, wellness programs and the EAP.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated competent level Neuropsychology knowledge and skills in psychology.
  • Report on clinical practices and outcomes within the clinical service area and, as experience builds, actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of SACU Clinical and Neuropsychology services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide evidence based psychology services within established principles.
  • The successful applicant must hold at least a post-graduate tertiary qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology and completion or currently undergoing the Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar Program. If the Registrar program has been completed the applicant must have endorsement by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency to practice in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology.
