JOB DESCRIPTION

Hays Legal have partnered with a leading domestic financial services organisation as they look to onboard a Senior Legal Counsel into the team. This organisation has shown strength through recent regulatory changes and pressures and is currently restructuring part of their wealth business.

Your new role

This position has arisen due to an internal move. This permanent opportunity will see you acting as the transactional legal lead for the Advice & Wealth Legal team. The role is primarily focused on M&A and restructuring matters, however from time to time, you will have the opportunity to assist with regulatory matters.

Responsibilities include;

  • Negotiating, drafting and amending agreements with partners to the business (including sale deeds, letters of comfort, deeds of release, variation deeds, restraints and other asset sale ancillary documents);
  • Providing advice on contractual arrangements;
  • Drafting purchase and sale of servicing rights contracts and franchising contracts;
  • Advising on regulatory reforms and legislative changes affecting the business;
  • Working with governance and secretarial units;
  • Working with the M&A business unit;
  • Managing external legal providers.
What you'll need to succeed
  • You will need legal qualifications and a current Australian Legal Practising Certificate;
  • 10+ years' PQE;
  • This role would suit a candidate with general corporate and/or M&A experience from either an in-house team or leading-tier firm;
  • Exposure to the financial services sector is desirable.
