We are currently seeking a Manager Technical Services to join our Site Leadership team. This is a permanent, full-time position at the Leonora Operations (Gwalia) working an 8 days on, 6 days off / 4 days on, 3 days off roster FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the GM, Leonora Operations you will lead and manage the Technical Services team to deliver LOM (Plans & Designs) that support and ensure the effective extraction of resources at Gwalia. You will ensure high quality geological practices and block models that support accurate grade forecasting. There will also be a focus on ensuring mine designs and the associated procedures are aligned with industry standards to allow productive, efficient mining of the resource in a safe manner.

The opportunity

Be accountable to ensure the team have a comprehensive suite of fit-for-purpose systems that drive efficiencies in the processes to deliver LOM, designs and policies in the Technical Services Department and that these are operating effectively and efficiently.
Contribute technically to the strategic design and scheduling of LOM plans with specific reference to Infrastructure, Mining methods, Equipment and Financials.
Lead and deliver the design and scheduling for the Provincial plans at Leonora, targeting and then optimising nearby resources.
Audit and evaluate mining solutions and technology for best in class recommendations.
Managing and driving Business Improvement projects to realisation of benefit.

What we will expect from you

You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them. You will use our values, along with our five commitments, to guide your decision making as you work for the safety and wellbeing of our people.

You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes.
You have a current unencumbered West Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
You are degree qualified in Mining Engineering (preferred) or a relevant related discipline.
You are commercially astute with experience managing large budgets.
Your technical knowledgeable of underground mining, associated infrastructure, alternative mining methods, LOM planning and budgeting is essential.
You will have a detailed understanding of working in complex, deep underground environments.
