Minara Resources has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mine Geologist to coordinate all mine drilling and mine geology activities.

Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin-Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. We are an owner-operator of a multi-pit operation spread over 200 square kilometres, moving circa 1M BCM per month using standard open cut mining with a mine life of at least 20 years.

The Role

As a member of a hardworking, supportive and committed Mining team under the direction of the Team Lead – Geology you will be coordinating all mine drilling and mine geology activities and assisting in the grade control, modelling and mine geology to aid the process of ore and waste delineation and extraction.

You Will Be Directly Involved In
  • Daily production duties including In-pit mapping, supervision of mining activities, ore block design, production reporting and mine to mill reconciliation;
  • Daily development duties including planning/designing resource drilling, lithological logging, QA/QC analysis and reporting, data processing and geological interpretation of drill data;
  • Design grade control drill programs to achieve maximum benefit and accuracy
  • Provide accurate grade control models for grade control purposes utilising modelling software (MP3) for conditional simulation modelling.


About You

This role would suit an enthusiastic candidate who has a desire to learn and develop in their discipline and can demonstrate:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • 2-5yrs Geology experience relevant experience in an open pit mining environment
  • Experience with RC drilling supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of geostatistical principles
  • Exposure to Vulcan and Acquire is a definite advantage
  • Valid C class drivers licence - manual
  • Desire to work across both production and development Geology
  • Demonstrated solid communication skills to communicate technical information and activities to non-technical team members.
