Full Job Description
re seeking a Team Leader to provide values based leadership to a committed team providing quality trauma informed care to children placed with the service.

The role, based in Cairns, is full-time and fixed-term until 31 December 2023. Extension of employment contract beyond December 2023 is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

Key Responsibilities:
Foster a warm, nurturing and culturally safe home environment for children and young people placed in the Family Reunification House.

Ensure smooth day to day running of the Safe House including:
Work within an allocated budget for all household purchases and stock control.
Create an inclusive routine within the home environment for children to participate in.
Provide children access to school and learning activities, teaching children new skills through fun activities.
Developing and maintain team member rosters and timesheets to ensure ongoing care and support within the house.
Lead the team to collaborate with organisations to support each child and young person’s placement plans, including community integration and eventual transition to family or alternative.
Participate in an on-call roster and be available for weekends, evening and sleep overs when required.

About you

Minimum Certificate IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention or relevant qualification as outlined in the Strengthening the Queensland Residential Care Workforce - Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet.
Hope and Healing Foundations Framework Certificate.
Willingness to obtain a Suitability Check under the Child Protection Act 1999 and Child Protection Regulation2011.
Demonstrated skills and experience working within a trauma informed framework.
Experience with disruptive behaviours and mentoring of employees through challenging situations to ensure children in the house are given the best level of care.
Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About the pay

Position is classified Level 5.1 - 5.3 under the SCHCADS award.
Salary range is $82,781 - $86,530 plus 9.5% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).
