Period of employment / Hours:
Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP for a period of 2 years.

Please note: Other fixed term full-time and part-time vacancies, that may arise in the near future may also be filled from this selection process.

Capability and Resources, Budget and Finance - Hobart

Primary Purpose / Focus :
Provide support to the Budget and Finance Team in the development of the Department of Communities Tasmania budget, the monitoring and reporting of financial performance, and related queries and correspondence.
Assist the Financial Reporting Team with the preparation of periodic and annual financial reports.
Ensure that cash and accrual revenue, expenditure and journal transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with Treasurer’s Instructions and other legislative requirements.
Assist with the provision of business services and management reporting.
Undertake specific projects as required.

Selection criteria includes:
Experience in, and understanding of, general financial and budgetary processes.
Well-developed ability to research, investigate, interpret and analyse financial and business issues, and where appropriate recommend action.
Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation, along with the capacity to think creatively.

Essential Requirements:
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
