About The Role

We’re extremely excited to announce the career opportunity of Technician – Field Information Systems. This role will be based in our WA Head Offices in West Leederville, Perth and work on a Monday – Friday roster. Regular travel (estimated at 50%) will be required of the successful candidate, which will involve experiencing various sites, locations, towns and terrains in remote and metropolitan Western Australia.

Working in a tight, friendly, supportive and hard-working team, our FIS Technicians champion new site customer implementations. They are subject matter experts, who provide both hands-on, and remote project and process management support to our surface and underground mining customers on Orica’s own incredible BlastIQ™ information platform.

BlastIQ™ is a platform used by our teams and our customers for designing mine site blasts, collecting blasting data and displaying analytics to support our customers drilling and blasting operations. The data is collected using a mixture of manual and semi-autonomous collection tools, which feed to the BlastIQ™ cloud platform for centralised storage and display.

This is a permanent, stable and incredible career opportunity with a Global Market Leader, in which the successful candidate will be provided with relevant training, support and guidance in which to tackle all aspects the role.

What You’ll Be Doing


  • Scoping: Our customer operations and assessing if BlastIQ™ integration will suit site Drill and Blast Processes;
  • Project Managing: Hands-on implementation and roll-out of BlastIQ™ onto our customer sites;
  • Communicating: With customer IT departments and management teams;
  • Training: Supporting the development of BlastIQ™ by designing and conducting training programs for customers and teams;
  • Developing: Contributing and having a definite say in our new product development; and
  • Supporting: Acting as a subject matter expert, assisting with BlastIQ™ customer support, product stewardship, and advice.



What You’ll Bring


  • Most importantly, sharing our most important value - safety is the priority, always;
  • A proven ability in solving general computer hardware issues;
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Field Information Systems (CISCO experience desirable);
  • Proven success in managing, coordinating and implementing similar projects;
  • Aptitude and ability to deliver product training to single or multiple stakeholders in a classroom environment;
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal alongside high level customer service skills; and
  • Certificate, Diploma, Degree in Information Technology, Communications, Project Management or similar.
