Position Summary

The AGSM Director of Industry Projects is an Education Focussed role within the AGSM Academic Team. This role reports into the AGSM Academic Director and has no direct reports.

The Director of Industry Projects is an exciting role for those who love working at the intersection of education and industry. This role will source, develop, coordinate and facilitate all industry projects in award programs offered by AGSM. The role is primarily responsible for the AGSM Strategic Consulting Projects course in our full-time and part-time MBA programs, along with the MBA Extension Projects, Individual Study in Management projects and other courses as required. This position is the primary contact for AGSM industry engagements and is responsible for sourcing, developing and nurturing relationships with industry and alumni and throughout UNSW. This position will work closely with the AGSM Academic Team, UNSW alumni office, UNSW Founders, the Career Accelerator at AGSM Team, AGSM Student Experience Team and AGSM Executive Education.

The Director of Industry Projects will ideally have a strong academic background, with a PhD and outstanding teaching experience combined with extensive experience working in or with industry. Consulting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Specific accountabilities for this role are as follows:

  • This Education Focussed role has a teaching load of six courses per year. This includes the Strategic Consulting Projects, MBA Extension Projects, and Individual Study in Management Course.
  • Demonstrating high-quality learning and teaching through effectively sourcing, shaping, facilitating, and assessing these courses and developing strong course materials.
  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with industry, including start-ups and NGOs, to build an effective pipeline of industry projects, and ensure effective client management throughout the project lifecycle, in collaboration with UNSW alumni, UNSW Founders, AGSM Career Accelerator Team and AGSM Executive Education.
  • Coordinate and manage the scoping and sourcing of industry projects with corporate and/or government partners and alumni. Be accountable for the management of the partnership process, including the preparation and delivery of contracts, the memorandum of understanding and non-disclosure agreement and ethics process before students commence work on projects.
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of industry and emerging trends to identify new opportunities and projects that address market needs.
  • Academic support for extra-curricular initiatives such as student competitions and industry speakers and events.
  • Academic support for MBA student recruitment events and activities.

Selection Criteria
  • Extensive experience teaching at university level, preferably in MBA programs, with evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Substantial experience working in or with industry. Consulting experience is preferred.
  • PhD is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in networking and building relationships with industry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
