Our Queensland Metals business operates five mining operations and processing plants, plus port and logistics operations. Reporting to the Manager – George Fisher Operations, you will lead a team of highly skilled, multi-disciplined mining professionals in the Production Department, establishing and communicating the strategic direction of the Mine.

Typically, your role responsibilities will include:

• Leadership of the Production function including drill & blast across the operation.
• Ensuring that the Life of Asset strategy integrates into the successful delivery of the business plan by managing operational teams, liaising with key stakeholders and achieving KPI’s.
• Identifying, implementing and systemising continuous improvement across the Production function.
• Development of a high performing team through formal training, coaching and mentoring.
• Forming strong bonds, positive communication, teamwork and collaboration with your peers and their teams.
• All technical, financial and people related responsibilities within your function.
• Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safety for yourself, your colleagues and broader teams.
• Increasing productivity, efficiency and cost improvements through your teams mastery of design and execution.
• Ensuring improvements are captured and implemented into every day procedures.

Our ideal candidate would be a qualified Mining Professional with at least 15 years’ experience in a large underground operation, coupled with a minimum of 5 years’ in a leadership role, you will have a strong technical ability, combined with a natural ability to interact with and lead others. Your experience should include significant contribution to the strategic and operational functions in an underground metalliferous environment and the use of multiple mining methods across various commodities.

Your experience in operational management, project management, strategic development and people leadership will allow you to achieve success in this role. You will also be able to demonstrate strong communication, problem solving and budgeting skills. Proficiency in mining related software packages (e.g. SAP, Deswik), as well as the Microsoft Office suite would be essential.
