The role

Requiring a hands-on approach, the Village Maintenance Officer undertakes planned and unplanned grounds maintenance services to ensure the appropriate standard of grounds maintenance is achieved at the ECH Independent Retirement Villages. The team operate an on-call roster, and you will be required to participate in this. Currently, the roster requires availability 24/7 for one week once in every 8 - 10 weeks. ECH pay an on-call allowance when this occurs.

In return, ECH will provide you with a vehicle, mobile phone and tools of the trade

What you’ll be doing

Ensuring that all allocated reactive, break down and planned maintenance tasks and requests are completed within allocated time frames, to approved standards and electronic records are updated appropriately.
Delivering a timely response to emergency breakdowns and reactive requests, including making safe and repairing, if possible.
Communicating with residents and providing direct, clear, and concise communication on maintenance activities, including changes to building service operations, interruptions to services and planned maintenance.
Assisting the Maintenance Minor Works Coordinator in the preparation of annual maintenance schedules and asset condition reports and liaise with residents on facility maintenance issues.

You will bring to the team

A demonstrated genuine commitment to helping older ageing people retain their independence so they can remain at home in the community
A full drivers licence
Exceptional maintenance/handy-person skills
Excellent communication skills
Proven ability to work autonomously and manage your time effectively

Highly regarded extras

A current Police Check or DCSI
A trade qualification in building maintenance
Recent flu vaccination
Previous experience in the building trade
