The opportunity

The Program Support Officer – Markets Acceleration will support the implementation of a programs that aim to improve buyer confidence and build end markets for recycled materials. Capability requirements include market development experience, experience in the development, delivery, evaluation and reporting of funding programs.

The role will support development and delivery of the Accelerating Public Procurement Program, including delivery of the Sustainable Infrastructure grant program aimed at expanding local demand for recycled materials through state and local government procurement. This program will focus on creating markets for kerbside recycled priority materials, specifically glass and plastics.

This role will work closely with government entities to identify and overcome barriers related to products standards, specifications and performance evidence. The program will raise awareness of products and supplier capability to facilitate an increase in government purchasing and increase buyer confidence in the use of recycled content products.

The role will also work in collaboration with the market development and sustainable procurement team members to complement and extend existing government procurement and market development work under the Recycling Industry Strategic Plan and Recycling Victoria policy.

About you

Key requirements of the role include market development experience, strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and project management. A demonstrated ability to multi-task while being resilient and adaptable to the demands of a fast-paced agile work environment is essential.

Specialist skills/Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Knowledge about the portfolio (knowledge of the waste and resource recovery industry is desirable)
