The Opportunity

Momentum Media has been equipping Australia’s corporate, investor and SME sectors with market and business intelligence for over a decade.

Across an integrated business supported by live streaming, digital, events, training and development, broadcast, research, and social platforms, we are guided by the purpose: Be better informed.

Being at the forefront of media innovation, backed by a pioneering spirit, has been central to Momentum Media’s growth. Momentum Media is one of the fastest growing media businesses in Australia and was the only media business awarded the accolade of one of Australia’s most innovative companies in 2020 by the Australian Financial Review.

The Role

You will investigate, write and file cross-platform content that is accurate and timely, compelling to the target audience and that is consistent with brand/title style and voice.

You’ll use your journalistic experience and build your industry knowledge to create opportunities for interviews, podcasts and features to produce content across different mediums, reaching our audience across multiple channels.

Specifically, you will;

  • File great copy at or before deadline which addresses audience expectations and needs
  • Produce daily bulletins
  • Regularly propose editorial ideas, news angles and feature suggestions
  • Apply best practice search engine optimisation (SEO) for all digital content
  • Coordinate podcasts, arranging interviews, logistics and transcription of recordings
  • Build a personal network of professional contacts and sources which you leverage for news and information
  • Attend relevant industry events, promoting the brand/title and sourcing new sources and editorial content.

The Candidate

You will have between one to three years' experience writing for a business or media platform gained through a mixture of employment and internships plus qualifications in journalism and/or finance.

Through this experience you will be able to navigate the demands, cycles, tools and systems that make up a modern newsroom, delivering content for print, digital and broadcast.

You'll be an enthusiastic self-starter who can work independently and, importantly, is not afraid of hard work.

Someone with an existing interest in Wealth and/or Finances / Mortgages is certainly going to have a head start here. However, what’s most important is your ability to become immersed in a subject area to become a thought leader in the industry you report on.
