Compliance and Safety Officer

Reporting to the Director, the Compliance and Safety Officer is responsible for developing systems and positively influencing the safety and compliance culture across various stakeholders.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity which provides variety and flexibility in ensuring the compliance and on-site safety of large-scale construction projects throughout Greater Sydney & the Illawarra, while managing stakeholders at every level and providing operational support to the Company Director.

We’re looking for someone who is focused, organised and has the ability to manage competing priorities. You will have previous experience in the construction or safety industry, or have prior experience composing SWMS, completing safety management plans, and creating fire evacuation diagrams.

With the office located in Padstow, this position is an office-based role and has the ability to be a part-time role for the right candidate.


Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Act as the first point of contact for compliance and safety enquiries.
  • Assist and support the management and/or delivery of training programs both internal and external.
  • Development and implementation and/or delivery of complex safety documents
  • Review and evaluate all compliance training programs including e-learning, professional, technical systems and seminars/ business programs and work with the team members on development and implementation to continually improve the training programs delivered.
  • Develop effective relationships with external vendors to facilitate and support the delivery of compliance.
  • Drive, coordinate and execute the delivery of various projects initiatives.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to establish and deliver on project requirements and project priorities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Health Safety Environment Quality Advisor Role
  • Experience in complex document creation, including reports, SWMS, Safety Management Plans, and creating Fire Evacuation Diagrams.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of HSE Standards, Regulations and Acts
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience in cloud based systems
  • Accurate data input capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders and influence at all levels
  • The ability to understand and interpret complex information
  • The ability to write detailed audit reports and prepare complex safety documents
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, problem solve and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and manage own workload


  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
  • Certificate IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor
  • Lead Auditor Certification – Desirable
  • Drivers Licence & own transport
  • White Card (desirable)
