Summary Of Role

We are seeking an Applications Engineer for commercial & utility scale solar power plants to fulfill company quality goals, ensure pre and post sales customer satisfaction and enhance sales cycle and sales closure rate on opportunities within Australia and SE Asia. This individual will be responsible for managing technical project qualification and proposal requirements, and performing technical feasibility and due diligence for new utility scale solar and commercial scale opportunities. This position will work closely with the regional business development team and Sales Operations in region along with the global O&M and Development Engineering teams. The Applications Engineer position is responsible for identifying the most appropriate technical and material solutions, per program or regional incentives, or other variables to value optimize the client solution.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Project managing live EPC projects with the support of EMEA project management, providing O&M support, ensuring O&M performance and reporting obligations/SLAs are met and acting as point of contact for customer escalations
  • O&M Support will represent 10-20% of the role and includes fleet performance reporting, field support, subcontractor contract and safety management for product deployed either through our direct or indirect channels in addition to co-ordination of issue to resolution corrective maintenance to rapidly resolve field based and SCADA issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining constant communication with key members of the Sales team and other departments as needed to put forth the most optimal design and work within company priorities for management purposes.
  • Site visits and meetings to support opportunities as required by level of difficulty or scope. Performs site feasibility and due diligence and documents items of concern or need for further validation.
  • Manage the sales request process for all project types and work within guidelines and set triggers to efficiently manage priorities using Salesforce.com and other established tools. Work with key members within Sales and Operations to effectively structure projects.
  • Perform technical due diligence for RFPs or similar as required by official response documents.
  • Prepare any necessary customer deliverables, such as conceptual layouts, single line diagrams, recommend equipment specifications, detail design civil, mechanical or electrical sheet sets or material specifications and engineering validation as requested. Clearly communicate design concept and high level system specifications.
  • Provide site specific or customer specific design and permitting guidelines, performing permit pre-planning documents for accurate scheduling. Validate design requirements for local conditions and recommend solutions.
  • Provide technical support and deliverables for utility specific interconnection applications, rebate applications, performance validation models or any other technical support for commercial operation.
  • Utilize modeling tools such as PVsyst, other production estimating tools, financial modeling tools, or material optimizing methods to validate most appropriate design and material solutions. Work with other departments to provide best estimating and modeling information.
  • Provide interface for scope of work handoff between EPC and Sales. Support project construction and O&M cost estimating, contractual review and scheduling tasks as required.
