Executive Manager - Business Control,Data Platforms

How will I help?

This role is a part of the Business Control function within Group Technology, Data Platforms. This function is responsible for enabling business success in keeping the bank safe. We are responsible for evaluating, directing and monitoring 1st line risk activities to ensure risk across Data Platforms is kept within the risk appetite established for the Westpac Group.

Your core responsibilities in this role will include –

  • Contribute to strategic direction and thought leadership to further improve our risk services offering and mature risk and compliance management for the Group
  • Be a key influencer to raise awareness and facilitate the building of a strong risk culture
  • Develop, mentor and coach others in your team and foster a positive learning and working environment
  • Lead in the development and implementation of improved operating practices and processes to uplift the effectiveness and efficiency of risk and control frameworks for business areas within Data Platforms in a dynamic environment
  • Design, deliver and monitor governance frameworks, risk and compliance reporting capabilities for Data Platforms
  • Provide practical, commercially focused risk advice and support as it relates to divisional risk priorities, regulatory change, business initiatives and its strategic plan that is consistent with the objectives
  • Establish and manage effective relationships in each sub Data Platforms business unit to facilitate the flow and exchange of information to provide timely and effective communications and enable early identification and management of potential issues

What do I need?

  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Considerable experience in large complex organizations – experience in the financial services industry would be preferred
  • Significant knowledge and experience in risk, operational IT, business knowledge and operational risk and compliance frameworks
  • Prior work experience in technology or data management would be a distinct advantage
  • Understanding of relevant laws and regulations underpinning the Data Platforms business areas, in particular, privacy and data security requirements would be desirable
  • Strong professional, commercial and personal judgment, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project and change management skills would be an advantage
