About the role

The Program Officer supports the development and implementation of initiatives and projects, including the development of supporting procedure and policy, and drives acceptance into the WorkSafe business and across a number of stakeholder groups. Program Officers in the Program division form part of a flexible resource pool that work under the direction of a Program Manager. Typically they work in multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, implement, manage and evaluate projects that are designed to address complex problems to assist the Health and Safety Business Unit to deliver the Health and Safety Strategy.

  • You will work in multiple project or program teams. Collaborate with the members of the team assigned to projects in the scoping, design and development of projects.
  • You will seek the input of stakeholders at key developmental and implementation stages of projects. Develop project objectives in collaboration with stakeholders to build shared ownership.
  • You will also work with relevant internal business partners to obtain available data required to scope projects and inform decision making of the project team, Program Manager or other stakeholders involved in the sponsorship of projects.
  • You will undertake work identified in project plans and/or co-ordinate with other business partners, implementation or service delivery areas that target workplace health and safety prevention.
  • Finally, you will liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to bring together expertise and knowledge that can promote knowledge sharing and problem solving in relation to things such as hazards, risks, and the effectiveness of activities previously conducted.

About you

You are an experienced project/program officer who wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary - You have a passion for making a difference to Victorian workers. You are a team oriented person who enjoys delivering an impact on your team and stakeholder.

  • You understand the legal, policy and the operational environment of WorkSafe Victoria and are able to develop initiatives, supported by research, analysis and a business case justifying the initiative
  • You have a tertiary qualification or experience in a related discipline (e.g. health promotion, OHS, behavioural science or project management.)
  • You have an interest in understanding the contributing factors to workplace hazards and ways to effect change to improve workplace health and safety
  • You will also have experience in dealing with and managing change and communicating change messages.
  • Finally, you will possess a demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, employer groups, unions, external and internal stakeholders
