The role
We are seeking a full time Mental Health Nurse to join our primary care team at Parkville Youth Justice Centre. Situated in the Northern suburbs, Parkville offers an easy commute for candidates based in the CBD and inner suburbs the surrounding area. Working with this vulnerable patient cohort offers our staff the chance to provide continuity of care within a recovery based model.

You will provide primary healthcare services to patients, mental health assessments, “at risk”/SASH assessments, case management, ongoing monitoring of the client's mental state and well-being and treatment needs. You will be flexible to work a 7 day rotating roster, across morning, afternoon and night shifts. 

Essential experience and attributes include the following (selection criteria):

  • Registered General Nurse qualification with a post graduate Mental Health qualification or equivalent
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • A minimum of at least one year post graduate psychiatric nursing experience
  • Recent nursing experience in a mental healthcare setting
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Proven experience dealing with complaints and incident management 
  • Ability to participate in the “at risk” on-call roster if required
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills
