About the role
We are partnering with a WA renowned organisation, one of Australia's leading mineral providers of bauxite, to secure the services of an experienced Senior Project Engineer. The purpose of this role is to support large capital projects as an engineering specialist (mechanical, electrical, structural or civil) through design, execution commissioning and handover. Based at their Pinjarra site the assignment is for a period of 12 months on a Monday - Friday (40 hour week) Roster with a strong possibility of extension.

The role is project based and leads the delivery of fit for purpose solutions and quality engineering outcomes for the allocated projects. In addition, the role provides engineering support for the construction, commissioning and the asset owner teams as required.

The key requirements of the role will include working to validate and improve the project scope and the execution of engineering on allocated projects:

  • Define and/or challenge the project and engineering scope to ensure they are fit for purpose;
  • Preparation of scope documents for execution of engineering or other services
  • Lead or support the management of engineering deliverables, primarily through 3rd parties
  • Assist in maximizing value from the Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) by proactive monitoring of performance and reducing variations
  • Assist in the preparation of operational readiness deliverables;
  • Ensure engineering design quality - experience and standards;
  • Ensure compliance with specifications with no excess scope items or engineering design deliverables;
  • Prepare responses to contractor technical queries within contractual time targets
  • Maximise the re-usability of engineering design;
  • Assist and validate in the construction, commissioning and handover phase of the project.

To be successful in this role, you will require the following work experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Structural) Experience & Background
  • 7+ years experience in an engineering field
  • 5+ years experience with design, maintenance or operational support of mechanical and /or materials handling equipment including Refinery and process equipment and Tailings dams
  • Engineering delivery in project environments favorably considered.

    Also:

  • Experience in the alumina, mineral processing or similar heavy industry.
  • Design execution and management
  • Contract management
  • Construction quality control
  • Commissioning support
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
