The Role
This is an opportunity to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) Crisis Stabilisation Facility (CSF) where our team provides an integrated, trauma focussed and contemporary mental health service to over 550,000 people and their families living in the Gold Coast.
Drawing on your own lived/living experience of mental illness, service-use and recovery, and your professional experience as a mental health Peer Worker, you will work as part of an integrated team with colleagues from other business areas within the health service and external service providers to achieve best outcomes for consumers and their families.
You will be responsible for
Providing individualised, one-to-one peer support, practical assistance, education and referral to consumers accessing the CSF, drawing on your own lived/living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery
Working as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team with colleagues from the CSF, Emergency Departments, the Acute Care Team, Family Participation Team and other service providers to achieve best outcomes for consumers and their families
Building safe, trusting relationships with consumers and their families based on shared lived/living experience, your professional experience as a mental health Peer Worker and the principles and values of mental health peer work
Working collaboratively with consumers, carers and families, colleagues, service leaders and others to identify service gaps, areas for improvement and implementation of appropriate responses at a service delivery level
Requirements for the role
It is a requirement of this position that the employee has a lived/living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery
It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are working towards the same
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Permanent full time
Base salary ranging from $77 605 to $85 500 per annum
Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

About the Crisis Stabilisation Facility
The Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Facility provides consumers presenting with a mental health, alcohol and/or drug crisis/illness a safe, supportive environment for acute mental health assessment, treatment, and management, including a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs. The core principles embedded in all aspects of this model of service includes trauma informed care, zero suicide, reduction in seclusion and restraint, and Integrated Mental Health and AODS interventions. This 12-chair facility will provide a higher level of nursing and multidisciplinary team input to acute mental health care for consumers aged 18 years and over experiencing a mental health crisis.
