Harvey Norman prides itself on the look and feel of our stores and are always looking to innovate and improve. In this newly created role, you’ll take the lead on all things lighting for our Brands.

You’ll work alongside internal and external stakeholders such as our in-house Global Planning and Design, Property, Shopfitting and Executive teams on the design and execution of lighting systems for new store fit outs and refurbishments within the existing network, working to deliver exceptional and quality results.

About the role
Our Design Manager - Lighting will lead and manage the design, documentation, procurement and installation of all lighting systems within the Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne stores. You will;

  • Prepare innovative & class leading interior and exterior lighting design concepts in line with relevant building standards;
  • Manage the product identification, specification and procurement processes;
  • Procure and manage the technical lighting standards and specifications for the Group;
  • Review current installations and provide strategic vision for future upgrades and maintenance;
  • Create and lead project teams of external design and installation professionals procured via tender process;
  • Lead & manage project delivery;
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and communicate requirements to ensure all requirements and outcomes are met.

About you
Priding yourself on your eye for design, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a lighting designer, ideally at least 4 working with retail clients or businesses. You will also have;

  • Proven and proficient working understanding of the National Construction Code and key Australian Standards;
  • Strong market knowledge of lighting products, specifications, performance and costs including appropriate procurement strategies;
  • Knowledge and understanding of project lifecycles and experience with some project management;
  • Proven financial project modelling with the ability to understand and interpret data;
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders;
  • A technical and commercial mindset ;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or relevant design qualifications
