Role: Nurse Immuniser (until December 2021)

Position Summary:

The COVID-vac group is responsible for managing and coordinating the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination to the state of Victoria. Operating as a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, the group will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver an effective and efficient immunisation campaign.

The Immunisation Program coordinates the immunisation provision in Victoria including the procurement and distribution of vaccines according to the National Immunisation Program schedule.

Working within the Immunisation Program, this position is responsible for the provision of an increasingly complex immunisation schedule in Victoria. The successful applicant will have drive and commitment, highly developed negotiation skills, and policy development experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and establish strategic directions for the successful management of programs and projects for all aspects of immunisation service delivery.
  • Analyse and monitor complex policy development and delivery issues, risks and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives, policy initiatives and operational program imperatives and community expectations.
  • Provide expert and authorative advice, innovative policy/program options and solutions to highly complex and sensitive issues on the policy and strategic implications of major government or department initiatives to senior management and key industry and sector stakeholders.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and develop options for implementing innovative strategies to facilitate a partnership approach to working with the industry's diverse and varied participant base.
  • Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, Ministerial briefings and communication resources on immunisation policy and operational/program issues, policy options and ad hoc reports and correspondence.
  • Lead and participate in interactive and consultative processes with appropriate government and non-government agencies and key industry or sector stakeholders in achieving government objectives and goals.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
