The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Personal Assistant to join the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology team. This role will provide administrative support to the Team Lead, researchers and staff members and assist in ensuring the efficient functioning and achievement of goals within allocated time frames. This role would suit someone with excellent communication, administration & organisational skills who is able to work independently.

The Role
The Personal Assistant role would suit someone who has a broad range of administrative skills and experience along with excellent communication skills. The position will require someone who is adept in multi-tasking and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. This position will provide key administrative and secretarial support including calendar and meeting management, CV and research profile management, travel management, and assistance with grant and award writing on behalf of the Team Lead.

This is a part-time (0.6-0.8 FTE) opportunity spread over 4-5 days, with flexible working hours available dependent on the successful candidate. Initially a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an office administration position
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience providing executive support including calendar and email management
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and to set priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in a standard array of software packages (e.g. Microsoft Suite)
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and friendly

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
  • Office administration experience in a medical, research or academic environment
  • Experience providing support with financial management
  • Experience in dealing with travel management
  • Exposure to funding and grant submissions
  • Exposure to research/grant management software, referencing software (e.g. endnote)
