Mental Health Clinician

This position is graded as up to an Occupational Therapist Level 3, Social Worker Level 3, Counsellor Level 3, Psychologist and Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2. Graduates from the Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3.

Tamworth Community Mental Health Services, based at Tamworth Hospital, is seeking a passionate and caring Mental Health Clinician to join their vibrant, community-based, multi-disciplinary team. This position will see you providing a high quality clinical rehabilitation service to patients and their families and carers within a strong, caring and team orientated service.

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be highly utilised in this position to build relationships with customers, families and other professionals as you work together to establish goals, ensure needs are met and maintain customers maximum level of health and independence. You will have the ability to provide mental health assessments and will be dedicated to upholding HNELHD's values of Excellence for Every Patient. Every Time.

Tamworth is the central hub of the New England North West with a population of just under 60,000 and is well known as the country music and equine capital of Australia. An agricultural area for lamb, wool, beef and various pastures, the temperate climate will allow you to experience all the seasons. Tamworth’s community is very welcoming – especially if you love sports as they boast over 150 sporting groups and for those relaxation periods make the most of the food, coffee and shopping on offer, whilst the smaller communities surrounding the area are great for day trips. This is a Mental Health Clinician Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

Job share arrangements will be considered.

An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia.
