Full Job Description
Are you an experienced catering assistant and are tired of having to work long hours and split shifts? Have you considered a career in the healthcare industry? Due to increased activity, we currently have exciting opportunities for casual and part time Catering Assistants to join our highly motivated, customer-focused team. In this role you would utilise your industry expertise while working:

Flexible rosters with no split shifts or overnight shifts
Family friendly rosters with rotational weekends and public holidays
A rewarding role where patients genuinely appreciate the service you provide

An essential part of this role is the ability to carry out physically demanding duties such as pushing and pulling food trollies, lifting and moving meal trays as well as general kitchen cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping and wiping surfaces.

While no split shifts or overnight shifts are involved you must have the flexibility to be rostered across a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

If you have strong written and verbal communication skills, possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude and can adhere to schedules and timeframes then this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Strong emphasis will be placed on your ability to demonstrate the organisations values of Courage, Diligence, Compassion, Wisdom and Friendliness, as well as your ability to commit to and apply these values in the workplace.

Key Selection Criteria

Previous experience assisting in all aspects of kitchen operations, food preparation and service provision in a healthcare and/or similar environment.
Food Safety Certificate and practical application of executing food standards in a Healthcare setting (desirable)
Strong verbal and written communication skills to exceed the needs of the patients, accurately read menus and fill meal orders.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment providing effective service with a smile.
Demonstrated capacity to meet and undertake the physical requirements of the role.
Availability to work a rotating roster including days, evenings, public holidays and weekends (essential)
Evidence of current Hepatitis B immunity (or the ability to obtain necessary vaccinations unless medically exempt)

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to provide evidence of immunity to Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs). Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements.
