An exciting opportunity exists to join Perioperative Services at Wollongong Hospital as a Surgical Booking Clerk (Waitlist).

This is a temporary part-time position (24 hours per week) from 17 May 2021 to 15 May 2022, with the possiblity of an extension at the same or reduced hours.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide a range of administrative and clerical support services to enable the Waitlist Department to achieve their objectives in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that the waiting time and elective surgery policy is adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure that timely and accurate maintenance of the elective surgery waiting lists at Wollongong Hospital in accordance with the MoH Waiting Time and Elective Surgery Policy.
  • Provide accurate information/statistics to hospital and Department of Health information systems (iPM & WLCOS).
  • Provide an effective, accurate and efficient quality admission booking service.
  • Ensure all clerical procedures are completed in accordance with LHD policy and procedures.
Provide leave relief and assistance to Surgical Booking Clerks.

Selection Criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative in the workplace, work unsupervised with previous experience in an admissions role.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritise work.
  • Able to demonstrate organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in software such as Microsoft office suite, particularly word and excel.
  • Medical terminology certificate or working towards.
