Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Specialist: Occupational Hygiene to join their Sustainable Development team at Granny Smith Gold Mine.

Reporting to the OHS Superintendent, you will be responsible for contributing to the capacity of the company to mine lawfully by assisting in meeting legislative obligations through the effective provision of an occupational health and hygiene technical service to stakeholders.

This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off, 4 days on and 3 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include.

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are always adhered to
  • Improving the overall effectiveness of the Occupational Hygiene on site by providing support and assistance in related areas as directed.
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance and calibration of occupational hygiene equipment is conducted and regular inspections and minor maintenance are completed as required.
  • Contribute to company and statutory compliance obligations through the input of hygiene data on a regular basis as directed and by assisting in the generation of quality reports.
  • Engender stakeholder confidence and protect business interests by maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in communications and ensuring sensitive information is kept secure.
  • Build a professional image for the company by promoting its interests in the community, diligently attending, and participating in offsite training; and,
  • Perform Occupational Hygiene sampling as requested in a timely and consistent manner to Australia Standards, site schedules, and legislative requirements.
  • Perform occupational exposure monitoring, sampling plan development, and statistical analysis.
  • Develop Health Hygiene Management Plans and Health Risk Assessments, as well as occupational health hazard control plans.
  • Conduct occupational noise and ventilation surveys.
  • Conduct personal and static monitoring for hazards including dust, Diesel Particulate Matter, welding fume, noise, and chemicals.
  • Provide respiratory and hearing protection fit testing and advice.
  • Train and mentor staff in the field of occupational hygiene.

Key factors to your success include.

  • Holding current Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer qualifications and capabilities.
  • Possess a valid Manual Drivers Licence
  • Previous experience with the development of occupational hygiene management and monitoring plans and the successful implementation of the arising programs.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to communicate information to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Experienced, knowledge, and a high level of proficiency of Microsoft Office.
  • Apply First Aid Certificate would be highly regarded.
