IHG has opened its newly built full-service upscale hotel - Crowne Plaza Hobart. The hotel is managed by Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and owned by Tasmanian locals.
The 235 room hotel offers a gymnasium, 9 versatile meeting rooms, and 2 restaurants and bars.
Your day to day
The moment a guest steps into one of our hotels, they walk into a genuinely memorable experience. As a Duty Manager - you’re the leader. You’ll not only be the person guests rely on to handle transactions, offer local insights and anticipate every detail of a friction-free experience. Reporting to the Hotel Services Manager, you’ll lead and oversee all aspects of hotel operations on shift to deliver a unique guest experience that brings the brand to life.
The hotel team work closely together so whilst you’ll predominantly focus your time across Front Office, you’ll also support Housekeeping, Engineering and all other areas of the hotel as needed.
You’ll be in tune with your team, driving performance and engagement and ensuring they receive the right learning and development opportunities to maximise performance and maintain a positive and productive work environment.

What we need from you
- Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in Front Office within a hotel using Opera
- Qualifications in Hotel Management and/or in Business Administration related field preferred
- Bilingual or multilingual language skills are advantageous
- Valid First Aid Qualifications and Drivers Licence are required - and the ability to drive cars confidently
- Passionate about guest services, team player, excellent communication skills
- Flexibility - early, late, weekend, night and holiday shifts are all part of the job
- Ability to inspire passion, enthusiasm and positivity in the team to drive an engaged, winning culture
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multiple projects and prioritise workloads
- Ability to manage complex relationships along with demonstrated ability to interact with guests, staff, and third parties that reflects highly on the Hotel, the brand and IHG
