About Metro Partnerships

The Metro Partnerships team is a small but agile team of retail experts comprising of Operations, Commercial, Space, Format, and Marketing. We are part of the Woolworths new businesses function and are supported by the broader Woolworths group ecosystem including Metro, Australian Grocery Wholesalers (AGW), format & network development, Primary Connect and IT.
The Partnerships team work closely with external retail partners such as Ampol, to help deliver Metro’s brand ambition of being “the easiest place to pick up your next meal”.

The role

Reporting to the Operations manager, your role within the Metro Partnerships team is executing the Retail Partnerships operational strategy. To consult, coach & develop our business partners of expert retailing and align customer experience through exceptional operational standards and general practice guides of Woolworths Metro.
Partnering with the Ampol Business managers and Store managers. The Operations Project Manager has a dotted line into the Group Format Development and Network planning team. In this role you are focused on but not limited to, the lead up and opening of Ampol Woolworths Metro stores in NSW. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the new store opening critical path, operational excellence in execution, training, coaching and developing store teams to the agreed operational standards.

Key responsibilities will be

  • Plan, create and manage with Ampol, the new store opening critical path for each location
  • Manage project communications, hypercare and first store orders from order to delivery
  • Consult , plan, design, develop, test, execute and evaluate operating standards for business partners
  • Training & coaching store operations teams
  • Woolworth brand protection, ensuring the operational execution is to Woolworths Metro standards
  • Store opening hand over and post store opening reviews

Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the entire in-store/operational support processes and procedures
  • Intimate knowledge of convenience operations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Experience

  • Demonstrated store management (essential)
  • Proven coaching & training experience (essential)
  • Managing confrontation/disagreement, displaying resilience and exercising patience (essential)
  • Proven experience in influencing to achieve mutual benefit (essential)
  • Adapting, interpreting and open to change across various operating models
  • Project management
  • Internal/External Stakeholder management
  • Using data to make informed decisions
