Newcastle Mental Health Services has an exciting opportunity available for a Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist in Training to join the passionate, multidisciplinary, community team based at James Fletcher Hospital.

In this position, you will provide high quality, patient-consumer-focused, evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment to improve outcomes for consumers and their families and carers, with the provision of supervision, consultation and clinical leadership. You will be supported in this position by the Senior Clinical Psychologist and the Newcastle Mental Health Service Management team to ensure your professional development and success in this role. 

Our successful candidate will have extensive experience in the assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse consumer populations and will possess the ability to work independently in the provision of consumer-focused care. Your ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, high level communication skills and contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice within health settings will be the key to your success in this position. 

If there are no suitable Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist in Training candidates, applications from generally registered psychologists that are not studying Clinical Psychology will also be considered. 

Job share arrangements will be considered.

An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia. 

If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
