About the Role

The role of Micro Space Manager - Metro will lead a team of Micro Space Merchandisers who are focussed on delivering an optimised product merchandising offer that is market leading and aligned with the needs of our evolving customer, commercial strategy and store operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of space strategy, merchandise guidelines, merchandising team processes & systems to tailor range and space requirements by format and channel across the network in line with Metro’s customer led strategy of differentiation and activating key zones that are tailored to the Metro customers unique shopping needs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working collaboratively and creating a culture of trust, empowerment and recognition
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Foster an environment that encourages freedom within a framework, provides flexibility and supports diversity.
  • Develop new tools and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Merchandise business.

About You

As the Micro Space Manager, you will play a critical role in establishing new ways of working and supporting and empowering the team to make the right decisions for the Metro customer utlising the available data and insights. You will bring to the role the ability to operate in an agile environment, utilising strong influencing and collaborating skills.

Key Skills & Desirable Experiences include:

  • Strategic acumen, and the ability to develop, communicate, implement and deliver strategies through plans that focus on what is possible using 1-3 year horizons
  • Prior experience in Space Management across a broad portfolio of categories within FMCG or Convenience retailing.
    • BY experience - High
    • Intermediate skills in MS Excel, Access, Word and Powerpoint
    • Intermediate experience in SAP, Google and Google forms functions
    • Tertiary qualifications desirable
  • The ability to prioritise workload pressures for self and others to maximise output quality and quantity. Able to resource plan effectively for team
  • Stakeholder Management and the ability to foster broad relationships across multiple internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrable skills in matrix management, influencing and collaboration.
  • Integrity - acting ethically, having appropriate independence, putting the organisation’s interests before personal interest.
  • A leadership style that is agile, inclusive, engaging and empowering that allows our teams to deliver on the Purpose, Ways of Working, Values and our Customer 1st passion. Able to coach and develop a high performing team.
