Full Job Description
As an Advocacy Officer in Swinburne Student Life you will provide a comprehensive and professional service to Swinburne’s student body. You will be asked to demonstrate strong leadership, knowledge, experience and autonomous decision making. You will be highly motivated, have exceptional communication skills and be able to understand and interpret policies and procedures in a fast paced environment.

In this role you will conduct all the administrative and operational aspects of the Advocacy service for Swinburne Student Life including case management and promotion of services available by Advocacy. You will quickly find that organisational knowledge; judgement; independence and problem solving are important aspects of the role. As an Advocacy Officer you play an integral role in the delivery of quality customer service to students and Student Life outcomes and can see the real difference you make in the lives of students.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in advocacy and/or the interpretation and implementation of policy, procedure and regulation.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting a culturally diverse client base in high stress and high pressure situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well developed communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
