JOB DESCRIPTION

Netball Victoria (NV) is a not for profit, member-based organisation which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. It is the peak sporting body for netball in Victoria and is affiliated with Netball Australia.

NV has an exciting opportunity and is urgently looking for Communications Assistant to work approx. 1.5 day per week for our Victorian Netball League (VNL) season, commencing 21 April 2021. This would consist of working on a Wednesday night and part of Thursday (during the day).

This role may suit a freelancer, or a final year Comms and Marketing university student, or anyone who can consistently fulfil those hours during the VNL season which concludes in September 2021.

The Primary Purpose of the role:

  • Prepare articles, copy and content for the Victorian Netball League and Netball Victoria’s competitions, for use across Netball Victoria’s website and social media channels
  • Deliver relevant and up to date information to media
  • Assistance in producing the livestreaming of events will be required, including preparing rundowns and guests
  • Give support to the media and communications team, covering social media content and reporting, website maintenance and general duties
Further Responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
  • Communications and content production
  • Write reports and feature articles for the Victorian Netball League
  • Write match reports and feature articles for Netball Victoria’s competitions
  • Produce and film interviews for Netball Victoria’s competitions
  • Draft and edit communications copy (e.g. press releases, publications, social media posts)
  • Produce competition livestreams where necessary
  • Assist in maintaining web content and executing social media strategies
  • Maintaining the competition image libraries
  • Help implement communications strategies
  • Provide administrative support to programs and internal teams
  • Update databases and media lists
  • Track projects and media exposure
  • Maintain calendars and appointments
  • Prepare presentations and reports

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
  • Appetite to learn and grow professionally
  • Attention to detail in order to produce outstanding work
  • Ability to write proficiently in multiple styles
  • Experience shooting and editing video desirable but not essential
  • Experience working with Adobe Suite desirable but not essential
  • Desire to work in sport
  • Knowledge of netball is desirable but not essential
  • Working With Children Check

Desirable Criteria
  • HSC/VCE equivalent
