About the Department

The Department for Child Protection (DCP) plays a key role in the protection of children, young people and their families within South Australia. The department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong and connected.

About the Opportunity

The DCP Adelaide CBD/Netley office currently have multiple exciting opportunities to join their team as a Senior Social Worker or a Senior Placements Officer.

In this role, the successful applicant will be providing high quality and effective social work service to respond to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines

As a Senior Social Worker/Senior Placements Officer, you will be undertaking the most complex child protection investigations and assessments, assessing the needs of children and families, and working with children who have entered into the care of the Minister so that their development, stability and security is assured.

About You

We are looking for a motivated, organised individual who has the capacity and capability to clarify situations, act impartially and use influence, negotiation and persuasion to effectively mediate the conflict and devise a workable solution.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they have knowledge and understanding of children and young people particularly in regards to developmental stages, vulnerability and resilience.

Additionally, you will possess the ability to develop workers skill and competency and to apply Social Work Methodologies into their practice approach, to facilitate critical thinking and reflective practice.

Essential Qualifications:

AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
