Risk Manager, Strategy Development – Credit Risk Collections

An opportunity exists for a Risk Manager within Consumer & Business Credit Risk to contribute to our vision of being one of the world’s great companies, helping our customer’s, communities and people to prosper and grow.

Your focus will be to:

  • Develop and monitor credit risk strategies that optimise risk segmentation as well as collection workflow activities, and syndicate with appropriate stakeholders
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the suite of collections strategies developed as part of the Strategy Optimisation Roadmap, and to support Senior and Executive Management with detailed analysis and insights on strategy performance
  • Establish and maintain sound risk management processes and techniques that support the delivery of the business strategy

How will I help?

Reporting directly to the Senior Risk Manager – Strategy, your responsibilities will be centred around:

  • Development, implementation and monitoring of risk-based Collection strategies including both risk segmentation and collections treatment / workflow
  • Research, analysis and interpretation of portfolio performance trends relating to risk strategy and operational execution
  • Actively managing credit risk strategy to maintain up-to-date effectiveness and accuracy
  • Participating in business improvement and optimisation initiatives
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of effective credit policies
  • Building and maintaining strong partnership with the Lines of Busines, Collections Operational team and external Collections vendors
  • Ensuring collection strategy and policy changes are communicated effectively to the frontline and stakeholders.

What do I need?

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of analytics, data science and/or modelling
  • Minimal 5 years of experience in the analytical field, including but not limited to credit risk, pricing, marketing analytics and propensity modelling.
  • Strong SAS and SQL programming skills
  • Proficient with big data extraction, manipulation and analysis
  • Strong understanding of business, credit scoring, behavioural scoring
  • Experience in predictive model development (scorecard, decision trees, machine learning)
  • End-to-end collection strategy development experience is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Understanding and/or exposure to decisioning systems such as TRIAD & Strategy Manager
  • Risk management and credit policy experience desirable
  • Knowledge of risk management across the credit lifecycle
  • Desirable practical experience in business or consumer lending and collection recovery activities
