Analytics Product Manager

The key objective of the Analytics Product Manager is to provide strategic, commercial and functional leadership for the developers involved in the design, development and support of data presentation and analysis tools within our clients Platform. Wide acceptance of these tools within the user community, as well as profitable operation of the development team, will be the main measures of success in this role.

The points below highlight major duties, tasks, and responsibilities that make up the role of the Analytics Product Manager.

  • Identify opportunities, build product vision, and understand market needs, roadmap, and strategy.
  • Work with The Board and technology teams to produce world-class products driven by technology visionaries, domain experts, and customers.
  • Own product specifications, documentation, requirements, and release plans.
  • Ensure that design artefacts as required by our client and software development methodology are prepared as a part of the product development process.
  • Research customer and user needs, write user stories, partner with user experience team for rapid prototyping.
  • Participate in user conferences and customer facing situations as a product expert.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure quality product output, timeliness, and market requirements.
  • Be the company's product evangelist.
  • Analyse growth rate, SAM, TAM, SWOT, market penetration and competitive analysis for the product.
  • Monitor competitive activities and general trends that could affect sales of the clients Analytics Product.
  • Propose product strategy changes in response to competitive changes in the marketplace.
  • Optimize and manage target market share, long-term competitiveness, and ROI of the product line.
  • Monitor product profit margins.
  • Recommend optimum Go to market strategies.
  • Team up with Account Management team and visit customers to propose and present the Analytics product.
  • Assist in the development of sales tools with the Account Management team.
  • Contribute to and create other marketing communications strategies.
  • Support and deliver product collateral for the Account Management team.
  • Maintain an awareness of all work that has been personally assigned to him/her.
  • Ensure an up-to-date Product Roadmap is maintained in DevOps.
  • Ensure an up-to-date Work Schedule for the Analytics Team is maintained in DevOps.
  • Liaise with other product managers within the systems development area.
  • Maintain an awareness of the delivery expectations in relation to time and cost of all software development work and who the recipient (eg a particular client) of the work is.
  • Have full understanding of contractual obligations that constrain a software development project and ensure conformance by the Analytics Team.
  • In order to ensure that our client is properly recompensed for all work performed by the Analytics Team:
  • Ensure that commercial arrangements for all activities are in place prior to commencement of work.
  • Review timesheet entries to ensure that time spent is recorded against the correct task, against the correct client and in accordance with the commercial arrangement so that the Account Managers can complete monthly billing within 2 working days following the end of month.
  • Ensure that the following documents, which serve as rules for ensuring software quality, are produced, approved, and placed under configuration management in the Company Portal:
  • Software Development Methodology as applicable for the Analytics product suite.
  • Software Engineers Workbench.
  • User Interface Standards/Guidelines.
  • Coding Standards/Guideline.
  • Software Build Procedure.
  • Periodically review and amend as required the Software Development Methodology.
  • Ensure that the activities required to produce the following software-related outputs are conducted and that the documentation is up-to-date, available to all interested parties, and placed under configuration management in DevOps:
  • Software development plan.
  • Software development estimates.
  • Software Design artefacts.
  • Unit test plan.
  • Test case/test procedure specification.
  • Unit test activity report.
  • Status report (for the Management Team).
  • Release notes.
  • Deployment instructions.
  • Product user guide.
  • Link to technical manual.
  • Ensure that all source code and SQL scripts are held in the source code management system within DevOps.
  • Bring to the System Architect's attention any inputs to the design phase that are unclear.
