The Position

St John of God Midland Hospital is a hospital operated under a public-private partnership between the State Government and St John of God Health Care. Providing free medical and surgical care for patients in the east metropolitan and Wheat belt regions, we provide a comprehensive range of services.

We currently have an opportunity for a registered Senior Occupational Therapist with Acute Adult Mental health experience in a hospital setting to join our team on a 12 months fixed term contract due to parental leave cover.

The Senior Occupational Therapist is proficient with assessment and treatment following OT mental health models, provides psycho-educational groups and manages a small mental health team.

This is a 12 months fixed term contract working up to 76 hours per fortnight.

The Successful Candidate Will Also Have

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated senior clinical experience and leadership in the mental health area of clinical practice within a healthcare and disability care setting.
  • Demonstrable ability to undertake professional supervision and/or mentor junior staff and to promote professional competence and growth in staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop evidence based and innovative clinical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and conduct quality improvement activities.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
