The Role
The APS5 Contract Management Officer (CMO) is accountable to assist complex contract management work within an integrated workforce under limited direction. They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. The CMO will:
• Assist with procurement planning, tendering, contract formation, develop procurement
documentation and contract management activities;
• Understand and apply legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations, critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and contract management;
• Coordinate procurement advice to support contract management outcomes including technical, commercial, legal, financial and risk mitigation;
• Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract; and
• Provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members.

The APS6 Contract Management Officer (CMO) is accountable to facilitate complex contract management work within an integrated workforce. They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. The CMO will be:
• Accountable for procurement planning, tendering, contract formation, develop
procurement documentation and contract management activities;
• Undertake specialist research/analysis, conduct reviews, perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results;
• Provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members;
• Understand and apply legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations, critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and contract management;
• Engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations;
• Assess and recommend risk mitigation strategies and suggest relevant business improvement actions;
• Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract; and
• Accountable to build and sustain relationships with supervisors, staff and team members and may lead a team and/group activities to achieve program outcomes.

About our Team
The Australian Government is laying the foundations for a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise to support the implementation of the Naval Shipbuilding Plan. To support this plan the Future Maritime Sustainment Model is being implemented to realise Plan Galileo; Maritime System Division's national, long term approach to sustainment of the naval fleet.

This new approach is pivotal to ensure effective and efficient sustainment of the significantly larger and more complex fleet that will result from Continuous Naval Shipbuilding. System Program Offices (SPO) and Regional Maintenance Centre's will be strategically located around Australia that over time will be able to deliver maintenance on all naval fleet units. This will ensure the significantly larger and more complex fleet can be effectively and efficiently sustained.

The Hydrographic SPO, Pacific Patrol Boat SPO and the Regional Maintenance Centre - North East are located in Tropical North Queensland, Cairns and will provide capability support to the Royal Australian Navy. These organisations will focus on enhanced collaboration, co-ordination, workforce development and expansion to build the capability and capacity needed to meet increasing maintenance demands.

They will be able to build, coach and lead a team, being accountable for managing workflows and setting work priorities.

The CMO will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will actively seek constructive feedback, accept development and leadership opportunities and share relevant experience and knowledge.
