The Role
A newly created opportunity has become available for an accomplished Investment Risk Manager to join our Investment Risk & Compliance team on a permanent basis.

As a key member of the Investment Risk and Compliance team, you'll work closely with Investment Performance, Group Risk, Group Compliance, and the Investments Division to develop and deliver an effective an effective investment risk framework as part of the second line of defence for QSuper's investment strategies. You will also contribute towards strengthening QSuper's investment risk governance and reporting framework and be responsible for providing impartial oversight and support on investment risk related matters.

Your excellent attention to detail and investment knowledge across all asset classes will be critical for writing reports and presentations for Senior Management, the Investment Committee, and the Board. You'll also lead and develop a small yet high functioning team to support the delivery of the Divisional strategy.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The ideal Investment Risk Manager will demonstrate some or most of the below:

  • A relevant qualification in finance, mathematics, business or related field
  • Completed or working towards a post graduate qualification or membership of an appropriate professional body (FRM/PRM, CFA etc)
  • Extensive and demonstratable financial services experience preferably in financial/investment risk domain directly working with Investment teams
  • Strong understanding across multiple asset classes - equity, fixed income, multi asset, derivatives and alternatives etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of investment risk management strategies, policies and procedures and demonstrated experience in developing these in consultation with senior stakeholders
  • Experience working with data, spreadsheets and systems to generate risk reporting and dashboards, with demonstrated experience in writing Board level reporting and preparing management insights. Ideally hands on experience with at least one of the risk calculation and reporting software - MSCI Barra, Factset, Bloomberg, RiskMetrics etc.
  • Strong technology skills (i.e. advanced spreadsheet manipulation, VBA, Power BI Reporting, SQL) and familiarity with systems integration, relational databases and automated work-flow concepts.
  • Demonstrated desire and commitment to add value to the reporting and monitoring of investment risk
