Position : Permanent Part time

Hours: Tuesday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm

Award: In accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010

Pay point depending on successful candidate

The Role of Targeted Family Support Worker

We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified person to join our team as a Targeted Family Support Worker. Primary responsibilities include identifying local needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and outreach services to Auburn and surroundings areas. Working with diverse partners and networks. As a Targeted Family Support Worker, you will educate your clients on a variety of relevant social service-related topics on a one-on-one, family or group basis. This role is funded by Department of Community Services. Therefore, as a Community Development Worker, you will report to FACS regularly and follow their guidelines. The position offers, a supportive environment with professional development opportunities.

About this role

  • Build partnerships with the community, groups agencies and stakeholders
  • Identify unaddressed needs in our local community. Make contact with the local voluntary/community sector including the groups that can be hard to reach
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs, which, meet Targeted Early Intervention Reforms
  • Participate in events and activities with groups
  • Identify, develop and monitor processes for FACS reporting requirements
  • Acting as a facilitator, promote self-help in the community
  • Help to raise public awareness on issues relevant to the community
  • Prepare reports and policies
  • Raising and managing funds
  • Working and submitting on suitable grants and funding applications
  • Developing and implementing strategies
  • Liaising with interested groups and individuals to set up new services
  • Planning, attending and coordinating meetings and events, encouraging participation in activities
  • General administrative duties.

We are looking for someone who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • A diploma/degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Development, Community Welfare plus minimum 2 years employment experience in a related field or Substantial community development experience
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues impacting on local disadvantaged communities
  • Have experience working with CALD communities, disengaged children and young parents, family and domestic violence, parents and carers, children 0-3 years old and young parents.
  • Have effective communication skills & conflict resolution skills & customer service skills
  • Have exceptional planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written), community engagement and networking skills
  • Knowledge of funding sources and funding programs to support community initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience working in a community development role
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and meet deadlines
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current Police Check
  • Current Working with Children Check
