Full Job Description
Our Utilities team are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the team and undertake a traineeship under the NSW Government Apprenticeship and Traineeship Scheme.

Throughout your traineeship you will gain valuable practical work experience, grow your skills and knowledge whilst having paid study leave and obtaining your Certificate III in Water Industry Operations.

QPRC Trainees undertake their courses part-time and are employed for the duration of the completion of their course. As part of the employment offer, Council commits to paying 100% of course fees and costs associated with resources such as text books. Trainees undertake full-time work with time to undertake study to support the successful completion of the qualification.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The position is accountable for:
Maintain satisfactory progress as a student obtaining a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations as approved by Council.

Assist and participate in:
Operating and maintaining Council’s water supply and sewer assets in an acceptable working order and to relevant standards, specifications, guidelines and policies.
Participate in construction of new water, sewer and stormwater assets to plan and specification.
Contributing to the continual improvement of Council’s water, sewerage and stormwater assets.
The repair of broken water mains and services.
Clearing block sewer mains and boundary traps and the repair of broken and leaking sewer mains and fittings.
The laying of pipes and fittings for extension to Council’s water, sewer and stormwater networks.
With work site traffic control, placement of signs and checking of signs as directed.
Implementing erosion and sediment control plans at work sites
Participate in councils after hour’s emergency on -call roster as required.
Operate items of plant and equipment as required and when qualified (e.g: Two tonne truck, heavy truck, jet cleaner and small vehicles).
Carry out relevant duties, as requested that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.
