• $84,556 to $97,085 (APS 6) plus 15.4% super

About the role

This vacancy is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. This initiative helps to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed in the APS, to better reflect the diversity of the Australian community.


As a Tax Specialist, in the Client Engagement Group, you will engage with clients and provide detailed tax technical and policy advice in relation to complex problems across a range of markets and industries. You’ll review complex structures and transactions and identify key tax risks. You may assist in strategic planning, program and project management.


Your duties

• Manage and determine taxpayer objections, disputes and reviews

• Build and maintain strategic relationships

• Coach or lead a small operation team

• Manage team workflow and review the quality of work


Skills and experience

• Technically sound knowledge of taxation and superannuation environments

• Experience in performing a range of complex engagement activities

• Expertise in identifying, researching and applying taxation law

• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills

• Highly influential communicator
