About Department
The Occupational Therapy service is committed to providing high quality Occupational therapy services that are client centred; evidence based and uses occupation-based practice. The Occupational therapy team provides services across the continuum of care and is located across the three main campuses in Fitzroy, East Melbourne and Kew. The department promotes a high standard of excellence in clinical services, education and research within a cohesive and supportive team. This position is located at the Fitzroy site with work being undertaken in the Occupational therapy department and within the Acute stream; in a variety of wards from Special medical and Surgical, Neurosurgery and Stroke, General medical and Hand Therapy.

About the Role
Accountable to the Manager, Occupational Therapy department, the Occupational therapy AHA will provide high quality patient care under the direction of the occupational therapy staff across acute care services. The AHA will also liaise and work with the other AHA’s in the inpatient Occupational therapy department to provide a streamlined, consistent AHA service. The acute AHA will also provide the Hand therapy unit with equipment and administrative support when necessary.

Duties
  • Provide intervention to patients referred by the Occupational therapist as directed.
  • Deliver and install equipment as instructed by the Occupational therapist.
  • Manage all aspects of the aids and equipment in the Occupational therapy department as directed by relevant Occupational therapy staff and / or the Occupational therapy manager.
  • Manage the reconciliation of equipment invoicing and associated billing.
  • Assist with the administrative and organisational tasks of the Occupational therapy department including, and not limited to stationery, filing, medical records, reception duties.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Accredited Allied health assistant course to Certificate 3 or equivalent
  • Current Victorian motor vehicle license
  • Understanding or /and experience in Australian hospital settings
  • Competency in English language
  • Demonstrated organisational and problem solving skills
